The Bridge Backpackers Maun
Southern Okavango Mokoro trips Maun....the gateway to the world famous Okavango Delta. The Bridge Backpackers is Maun's newest campsite situated on the banks of the Thamalakane River overlooking Maun's illustrious "Hippo Pool" and national heritage site "The Old Bridge". Although the camp is situated in Maun - you will feel as though you are already in the Okavango Delta.
This is the place to start and end your Okavango experience. The best camping experience Maun has to offer.
The Bridge Backpackers is 10 km out of Maun on the edge of the, Okavango, overlooking a hippo poo. A space created with the knowledge and understanding that comes from years of experience in the backpackers trade.
We endevour to provide a secure comfortable base from which you can enjoy the varied, amazing activities that this region has to offer. We have a leafy lawned camp-site for travellers with their own tents and a few drive in sites with power points. There is one site for larger groups. Our dorm sleeps eight people,is spacious and has dividers for your privacy. There are riverside tents made up as either doubles or twins. We have a popular and some-times festive bar set between old weathered leadwood logs.
Evenings are softly lit with good music floating in the air. You will always find a fire on a cold winters night and a cosy t.v. lounge that may be used on request. Our kitchen opens at 7 in the morning and closes at 9 at night and serves good value meals for all tastes. For those who prefer to self-cater there is a taste-fully built fully equipped self-catering kitchen. Situated between the main building and the campsites you find open air hot showers and and flush toilets built entirely from natural materials which are always kept spotless.
Our friendly staff who we consider to be our biggest asset will ensure that you have nothing but fond memories to take home. We run a variety of activities for you to do while you are in Maun and do safaris to all the wildlife parks in the area. We are also happy to give good advice to those of you with your own transport.

Early morning and sunset rides are available. Overnight and two night delta rides can be arranged for up to six people.
SCENIC FLIGHTS OVER OKAVANGO
An overview of the islands and waterways of the Okavango gives you an insight into the shear size and beauty of our wetlands and the Wildlife they support.
BIRDWATCHING WALKS
One of our local bird experts and guide Rodger Hawker takes two hour walks along the river and frequently will spot and identify up to sixty different species of birds.
SUNSET CRUISES FROM MAUN
A sunset boat cruise down the thamalakane river whilst viewing game in the maun wildlife sanctuary is a nice way to end your day.
MOKORO TRIPS SPECIAL FROM MAUN
Dug-out canoe or mokoro trips have become the popular way for travellers to experience the tranquillity of the Okavango Delta. It is not surprising that regardless of budget, visitors wanting real insight into the lives of the people of the Okavango, choose to do these trips. They are the best way to slip quietly into, and become part of, every day life in this watery wonderland.
The Bridge Backpackers uses any of four community run mokoro stations in an area of the Okavango set aside to be managed by community representatives. These communities traditionally use this part of the delta for fishing, reed cutting and the harvesting of water lily bulbs. The mokoro is an integral part of these activities.
We run trips ranging from one to four days, for up to six people. Larger groups can be organised but require prior arrangement. You need to take your own food and equipment with you, however for those travelling light you can hire a tent and other necessary items from us.
