Oddballs' is situated on the edge of Chief's Island, deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The camp is accessible by light aircraft only and is a 20-minute scenic flight from Maun over the Delta.

Situated a few hundred meters to the south of Oddballs’ is The Enclave, a small, intimate hideaway with spectacular views over the floodplain that lies before it.

 

Oddballs Enclave comprises of 5 comfortable tents, each with old world safari en-suite facilities and rustic décor – paying homage to a time when safaris were a real adventure. An open-plan, elevated deck and bar with lounge area enable guests to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the Okavango Delta.

 

Each en-suite tent will be assigned its own private guide, with the focus on the mekoro and walking activities that has made Oddballs famous in every corner of the globe.  

 

Activities are conducted by your own professional guide (a maximum of two guests per guide), a man of the swamp, born and bred. He has a mokoro (dug-out canoe) in which he will take you to nearby islands, where you will walk to view game and the spectacular landscape that is the Okavango. It might also be possible to visit his village, meet the elders and perhaps his family.

 

Please note that from November through to May the water levels may be too low for any mokoro activities to be conducted.

Hi Jody,

Both Astrid and I can 'wax lyrical' about the Oddballs Enclave. Delta Air got us to Oddballs before lunch after dropping off three Norwegians at Pom Pom. Airborne again. Amazing. We were welcomed by no less than 5 smiling and helpful staff, who introduced themselves and carried our bags across the landing strip to the Enclave where 'Doc' did the 'meet and greet'. Jody, the man is good!! He said you had actually worked at Oddballs. I'm sure you've been to the Enclave by now.

The five bush tents with real African bush (bucket) showers had us 'gaping'. So very environmentally friendly. I also would like TK's employers to know what a gem he is. Actually you can post this on the Internet. During our 'tracking' and makoro trips TK knew all the birds and pointed out the frogs and took us to the little village. I was so enthusiastic about the construction of the houses with the tins.

Oooo and one morning at 05:30 we woke up with a tree shakin' and our tent a-shakin' then 'putsch, putsch, putsch' the sound of a beeg animal in the swamp. Ellie had been to visit. While he was shaking the tree, I looked to see if one could get secure under the bed??? No place to hide. Astrid said at dinner : 'You should not have been fearful, after all you are an African'. Our fellow guest, Dutch Dr from USA said: "Its precisely because Elise is from Africa, that she was fearful!"

TK explained that when the water rose the animals on Chief's Island would be more obvious and whilst we enjoyed the elephants, buck and heard the hippo close to camp at night, we did not have a 'great showing'. Birds, as I said were plentiful and beautiful. We heard the lions roaring about 3 kms away! Ever heard of the 'frog catcher of the Okavango Delta' ? As TK poled us into the 'mokoro marina' he told Astrid to take off her specs. There sitting neatly on the inside of her lens was the tiniest and cost perfect little long green frog!
