Overland Tented Safari .
The
discomfort of a safari in Botswana is part of the attraction. Most of
the roads we use are sandy tracks, and at times it can be hot and
dusty! The rewards are harder to describe. To watch the sun set over
the Okavango, to spot the elusive leopard, or witness a herd of
elephants come to the river at dusk, to sit around a campfire
listening to the African night, these are the rewards; memories that
will serve you well in the great, crowded cities of the world.
If you must see a “wish list” of animals, then retire with the
crowd to a glass and concrete hotel in the bush,
these safaris are not for you. But if you want to leave the world
behind and enjoy some traditional African hospitality, we would like
to have you along.

What to Bring:
For ease of stowing, soft duffel bags are preferable. Bags should
not exceed 20kg.
A laundry service is provided at camps when water is readily
available.
A good torch (flashlight) with spare batteries per person.
A pair of covered walking shoes and a pair of sandals or ‘Tevas.’
The temperature in Botswana can range from very hot in the middle of
the day
(35 deg C + in summer), to ice cold at night (0 deg C in winter).
European or North American summer clothing is appropriate but try to
keep the colours neutral
(khakis and greens are best). If you are traveling during June, July,
August bring a track suit
and a warm jacket for those early morning game drives and brisk nights
too.
Personal toiletries and a swim suit.
One pair of binoculars per person is recommended, and if you plan on
bringing a camera, be warned!
Its better to take unexposed film home than to run out. Bring twice as
much as you think you will need.
Last, but most important, you should bring a sense of adventure, and a
willingness to get involved!
