Mobile Tented Safari .
A mobile Botswana
safari offers a combination of privacy and flexibility that can be
perfect for small groups and families, and individuals wanting the
exclusive attention of their guide, who is usually an accomplished
photographer as well experienced in the bush. The mobile safari can
either be exclusively yours, or you can join a small band of
like-minded adventurers on a set departure date . Mobile
camps allow flexibility in terms of the areas chosen to visit, as well
as the campsite selection itself.
In conjunction with our guests’ requirements, we will design
an itinerary that follows their dreams, whether it is gliding silently
through the Okavango in a mokoro, ‘hunting’ with the Kalahari
bushmen, walking in big game country or to simply enjoy Africa at its
best! SHEDULED

Just
imagine you are gliding through the Okavango in a dug-out canoe
surrounded by the sounds of fish eagles calling and hippos snorting in
the distance … or driving through the Chobe and having
close-ups of hundreds of playful elephants as they move to the river
to quench their
thirst and frolic in the water next to the spot where you are camping
… or listening to
the nocturnal call of a lion while dining under the brilliant stars
above. Is this your kind
of safari? “Acacia mobile safaris” is a fun alternative to
a lodge safari and designed for those who prefer to sleep under canvas
and get away from the crowds. On
these safaris we offer a style of travel which is acceptably
comfortable, yet allows our guests to get off the beaten track and
away from the ‘main routes’.
The movement of game will determine our choice of campsite for
each safari. You travel in a vehicle with a guide a dn camp hand
who will take care of the more onerous camp chores. You will be
accommodated in comfortable 2m x 2m walk-in tents, with a comfortable
bed roll. Director-style
camp chairs, tables, wash stands for each tent, a bush shower and
toilet are also provided. Your
guide and his assistant are experienced professionals who will
prioritise your comfort and safety as well as ensuring optimal
game-viewing opportunities throughout your safari with us. The vehicles are open to allow the feel of Africa to
permeate and are ideal for game-viewing and photography. Inside your
roomy safari vehicle you will find a selection of reference books on
Botswana’s parks, its history, flora and fauna, as well as a fridge
with cold drinks. Scrumptious meals are prepared by our friendly
safari assistant and are served under the stars. The meals usually consist of a pre-dawn continental breakfast, three-course
brunch, light lunch or high tea and a two-course dinner.
We supply filtered water throughout the day.
Should you require any additional drinks, we can provide beers,
bottled wine or liquor for purchase during the safari or your guide
will show you where best to purchase your own alcoholic beverages
prior to departure or at convenient points along the way.
ITINERARY DAY
1-3: KASANE – NORTHEASTERN
CHOBE NATIONAL PARK - CAMPING – F/B We
meet you in Kasane on arrival and transfer by road to our private
campsite in
Chobe National Park (the trip takes about one hour). We spend the
first two nights of the safari in a private campsite in the national
park overlooking the Chobe river and adjacent floodplains. We will have a private campsite
all to ourselves (campsites with zero development – we provide all
ablution and other facilities). Camp will be set up in advance – the
showers will be hot, the drinks will be cold, the fires crackling, the
table will be laid, the beds turned back and dinner bubbling on the
campfire. TERRAIN:
Along the Chobe riverfront the terrain is that of a typical riverine
ecosystem. Away from the river we have mixed miombo and broadleaved
woodland that harbours rich avifauna. GAME:
Northern Chobe is famous for its elephant & buffalo herds, puku,
kudu, Chobe bushbuck and hippo. One could also hope to see: lion,
leopard, wild dog, giraffe, waterbuck, zebra, impala, baboon, vervet
monkeys, warthog, sable, roan, lechwe, banded mongoose, crocodile,
leguan. ACTIVITIES: Game drives, birding, boat trip on Chobe
river, where with some luck we can drift alongside some elephants
cooling off in the heat of the day. DAY
3-4: SOUTHWESTERN CHOBE NATIONAL PARK – SAVUTI or ZWEI-ZWEI -
CAMPING- F/B While
the camp staff break camp and load the supply vehicle, we head off on
a game drive. When we meet up with the supply vehicle again we drive
to Savuti. The drive lasts approx five hours with a picnic lunch en
route. At Savuti the staff will set up camp in a private campsite on
the banks of the now dry Savuti Channel while we explore our new
environment. TERRAIN:
Savuti Marsh is typical open grassland surrounded by Acacia bush and
stony outcrops reminiscent of Serengeti. GAME:
Savuti is famous for its lions and hyenas, lone elephant bulls, zebra
and wildebeest migrations. Other game one can hope to see include:
giraffe, tsessebe, warthog, black-backed jackal, leopard, cheetah,
bat-eared fox, impala, wild dog, kudu, baboon, steenbok, dwarf,
slender and banded mongoose. ACTIVITIES: Game drives; birding, bushman paintings,
elephants at waterhole. DAY
5 – 9: SOUTHEASTERN MOREMI
NATIONAL PARK & OKAVANGO DELTA - CAMPING -
F/B Once
again our back-up team will pack up and move camp while we do a
leisurely game drive with a picnic lunch en route (approx 4 hours’ drive).
The road takes us via the Khwai River on the outskirts of Moremi,
which offers good opportunities for close-up game and raptor
photography.
We will spend the last four nights of our African encounter in one or
two different camps in and around Moremi – depending on game
movements and campsite availability. We normally try and incorporate a
dryland as well as a more wetland campsite to give you the best of all
that the beautiful Moremi has on offer. TERRAIN:
Moremi being an extension of the Okavango, offers a typical wetland
system with grassy plains and pans surrounded by well-developed mopane
forests and riverine woodland. While out on the mokoros the landscape
will alter to typical Okavango Delta terrain with its grassy flood
plains dotted with large termite mounds, small islands fringed with
palms and larger islands with riparian forests of sausage and ebony
trees. Water lilies adorn the bracken-lined watercourses and streams. WILDLIFE:
Elephant, impala, lechwe, waterbuck, tsessebe,
wildebeest, zebra, kudu, warthog, squirrels, baboon, vervet monkeys
and banded mongoose are common. One can also hope to see buffalo,
giraffe, bushbuck, lion, wild dog, leopard, cheetah, black-backed and
side-striped jackal, bush babies, fruit bats, sable, roan, steenbok,
duiker, honey badger. The birdlife includes water birds as well as dry
land birds. ACTIVITIES:
Game drives, birding, boat trip from Xakanaxa to explore the waterways
of this part of the Okavango Delta. DAY
10: TRANSFER TO AIRPORT FOR ONWARD FLIGHT

for your onward flight. INCLUDED: All
